Sales Engineering Intern 2014

Computer Science

Southwestern University

Why did you decide to intern for Aeris?

Since Aeris is such a small company, I knew I would have the opportunity to get to know a lot of the employees in each department. Having the opportunity to learn from some of the pioneers of machine to machine communication also appealed to me.

Describe your favorite project.

I developed code samples in Python using REST APIs. The project was challenging because I had no other code samples to work from and there was little documentation in books or on the web about using Python and REST. I did not even know what an API was before I started working on the project!

What did you gain from your experience?

Though I stayed in the same department during the entire summer, I had the opportunity to talk to employees in other departments and learn how each department works together to make the company successful. I also had the ability to learn new skills and build confidence since I was constantly thrown into new territory.

What is your favorite internship memory?

It’s hard to narrow it down to one. One of my favorite memories would be debating the similarities and differences of major religions with the other interns. We all come from different backgrounds so it was interesting to hear what everyone had to say.

How are you connected with the people at Aeris (what do you have in common with one or any of your colleagues/fellow interns?)

On the sales engineering team, everyone has a great sense of humor. It helps relieve stress since the team has to come in everyday to solve new or existing customer issues.
